2017 General Conference Educational Sessions
Monday to Wednesday, April 3 – 5
As the 2017 General Conference nears, educational sessions are being set in place for Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesday morning, April 3 – 5. With the conference theme established as “Zion Shall Flourish,” each session will be designed to provide a framework whereby the saints and conference attendees can actively participate and engage in learning opportunities. Not only will the presenters provide a wealth of knowledge, but several of the sessions will find those in attendance busy learning and modeling newfound skills, and finding ways to implement them in their personal and church lives.
The Quorum of High Priests will review some of the topics which have been presented to the men of the high priesthood over the past year, with potential topics on the Temple, evangelism, counseling, preaching, Book of Mormon geography, the use of religious symbols, the endowment, spiritual gifts, prayer, and the relationship of grace, works, and faith.
Apostle Terry Patience will host a class on how to be a missionary. This interactive presentation will present how individual saints can be ready to respond to inquiries or questions from non-Remnant people about the church, religion, or their relationship with Christ.
President Ralph Damon will challenge everyone to “think outside the box” about what we know or believe by using video to enhance what we see or hear that can be utilized in our understanding of our faith and beliefs. The core of this session will be discussion of our strengths, our abilities, the depth of our faith, will we ever accept failure, and our willingness, or unwillingness, to come together as one body.
The session presented by Presiding Patriarch Carl VunCannon, Jr. will focus on the celestial law and its implementation and adoption by the church and the saints. The Lord has clearly informed the church of the necessity of adhering to this law. Brother VunCannon will bring his rich ministry forward in assisting us in understanding this “gift” of God.
We are still seeking a final presentation at press time. As soon this known, we will make the entire educational program agenda available. We hope that many who are planning on attending General Conference this year will come early for these very appropriate presentations.
