…JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH YOUTH IN MISSION

“And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
For if ye forgive men their trespasses, who trespass against you, your heavenly Father
will also forgive you; but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your heavenly
Father forgive you your trespasses.” —Matthew 6:13,16
As I look around this sin-sick world, I see so much unforgiveness toward each other. We, as followers (disciples) of the Christ, are called to not be of this world but to walk in the paths of our Savior. Each time I read in the gospels of Christ being crucified, and looking at those who put him in such torture, and saying, “Father, forgive them,” I am in wonder.
Having gone through my own trials of life and coming to a place that I had to forgive, when honestly, I did not wish to do that, I understand the struggle, especially when that other person did not seek forgiveness. I was brought to my Lord and wondered where I had sinned against God and not sought forgiveness. My heavenly Father has granted me forgiveness of unacknowledged sins as he calls me to repent. That is mercy.
In the youth groups, we have been teaching right relationships and discussing walking as disciples of the risen Lord. The Christian life is one of each day choosing the way of Jesus. Forgiving others is a vital part of that; we receive mercy and are called to give mercy unto others.
