M\u00e4rz 2014, w\u00e4hrend des Familienmorgengottesdienstes im Zweig Bountiful, Missouri, von Patriarch Fred Williams gegeben.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In den 1980er Jahren stiegen die Benzinpreise sehr schnell. Es wurden Rationen daf\u00fcr eingef\u00fchrt, wie viel Benzin man gleichzeitig kaufen konnte. Betty und ich entschieden, dass wir ein sparsames Auto kaufen mussten. Jetzt wollte ich mir keinen Kleinwagen mit Automatikgetriebe kaufen; es m\u00fcsste ein Schalthebel sein. Betty protestierte, dass sie keinen Stock fahren k\u00f6nne, aber ich sagte ihr, dass ich es ihr beibringen w\u00fcrde. Wir haben einen 1982er Ford Escort mit Schaltgetriebe gekauft. Wir luden die Kinder auf den R\u00fccksitz \u2013 Christy, Brian und Jeff \u2013 und machten uns daran, Betty beizubringen, wie man einen Stock f\u00e4hrt.<\/p>\n<p>Betty hatte M\u00fche zu fahren. Manchmal stellte sie den Motor ab, manchmal ruckte das Auto wirklich vorw\u00e4rts. Manchmal sch\u00e4lte sie die Reifen. Einmal an einer Ampel, an einer leichten Steigung, wechselte die Ampel von Rot auf Gr\u00fcn und wieder auf Rot, w\u00e4hrend Betty immer noch M\u00fche hatte, hin\u00fcberzukommen \u2013 aber sie lernte. Das Seltsame war (lustig f\u00fcr mich, aber nicht Betty), dass wir st\u00e4ndig Ratschl\u00e4ge vom R\u00fccksitz bekamen.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Die drei Kinder gaben sehr lautstark Ratschl\u00e4ge, wie sie fahren musste. Jetzt wusste ich, dass keines dieser Kinder jemals einen Schalthebel gefahren war, und ich konnte mich nicht einmal an eine Zeit erinnern, in der sie es getan hatten <em><strong>geritten<\/strong><\/em>in einem Auto mit Schalthebel. Trotzdem waren sie voller Witze, um Betty zu sagen, wie es geht. Betty hat gelernt, wie man einen Schaltkn\u00fcppel f\u00e4hrt, und das Auto hat uns gute Dienste geleistet, aber diese Erfahrung hat mich zum Nachdenken gebracht: Ist Zion nicht so? Es gibt heute keinen Menschen auf der Erde, der Zion gebaut oder dort gelebt hat, aber die Menschen sind bereit, sich auf den R\u00fccksitz zu setzen und dem Propheten zu sagen, was er tun muss, damit es zustande kommt.<\/p>\n<p>Als die Gemeinschaft in Bountiful aufgebaut wurde und unsere Familie die M\u00f6glichkeit bekam, dorthin zu ziehen, standen wir vor dieser Frage: Wollen wir uns auf den R\u00fccksitz setzen und Pr\u00e4sident Larsen sagen, wie es geht, oder sollten wir es tun? auf den Vordersitz setzen und ausprobieren?<\/p>\n<p>Ja, als Kirche werden wir Fehler machen. Wir werden den Motor abstellen. Das Auto wird nach vorne ruckeln und wir werden die Reifen sch\u00e4len, aber es wird die Zeit kommen, in der wir zur\u00fcckblicken und sagen werden: \u201eDas war nicht so schwer, wie wir dachten!\u201c<\/p>\n<p>Wir haben einander zu lange zugeh\u00f6rt.
