Editorial Comment Issue 62

As the April General Conference of 1925 neared, President Frederick M. Smith sensed the need to bring to the membership an urgency of the times. “The hastening time is here and greater unity than ever before is necessary if the forces of opposition are to be met” (Doctrine and Covenants 135:2b). In the same vein, I have been prompted to declare the theme for our upcoming General Conference this April as “My Work Must Hasten.”

“My” is Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

“Work” is that which we as a covenanted people and members of the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are committed to bring to pass as the Kingdom of God on earth, even Zion.

“Hasten” is an indication of the urgency to be about the work, NOW!

Our belief is that, when the time is ripe, our Lord will return to His people. The fact that He is simply waiting upon us has been brought to our attention numerous times in recent Remnant Revelations. One of our members is constantly asking me, “Brother Larsen, when is Jesus coming?” My simple reply is always, “Dear Sister, when we are ready.”

Section 65 of the Doctrine and Covenants shouts to us loud and clear, “Prepare ye the way of the Lord, prepare ye the supper of the lamb, make ready for the Bridegroom.” If we truly believe that He waits upon us, then why should we not do everything that we possibly can to hasten that time.

President Smith emphasized two points – greater unity among the membership, particularly the priesthood, and the presence of opposition forces. My hope and trust is that, because of our great unity at this conference, we can overcome any opposition forces.

New at this conference will be our pre-conference educational sessions which begin on Monday, March 30th, and continue through Tuesday with meetings of the various priesthood leaderships and quorum and order sessions. On Wednesday morning, these sessions continue with priesthood meetings at 8:00 AM and open sessions beginning at 9:15 AM. These are designed to provide opportunity for the entire Remnant Church membership and priesthood to become knowledgeable about many of the programs and ministries currently in place within the Church. Please take some time to review the times of the sessions and which ones are open to everyone.

Since last April, much has been accomplished to move the Church forward in the area of Media Outreach, including updating our Website and our live-streaming. This effort will be seen in many of our conference programs. Also, it will be seen that our commitment of adding additional staff for the work of the Church is now in place.

This is anticipated to be one of our very best General Conferences, ever.

Let our upcoming gathering together be one of an unusual spiritual uplift and that a deeper sense of urgency to prepare for Christ’s Kingdom to come will be present in the hearts and minds of each Saint present.
