Iowa Reunion

Iowa Reunion June 4-8, 2018

By Patriarch Gary L. Argotsinger

The Remnant Record 2018 – Volume 1

The 2018 Iowa Reunion was held June 4th–8th. We met the Lord on the hilltop at Guthrie Grove, Iowa. Many of us have met the Lord here for many years and have taken our children to this sacred place. The saints from the Remnant Church have come here since 2004. Some came for the first time this year and others for repeat visits. Regardless of your history with Guthrie Grove, the Spirit welcomes you and invites you to come back.

This year we had around 50 people attend. We watched the children play on the swing sets and swim, all without bickering or fighting. We watched them sit together and talk about the things that were important to them. We watched as parents and grandparents carefully nurtured them in a way that would please our Lord. We were ministered to by the music that the children provided. The younger children sang together under the direction of Megan Romer, and the older children sang under the direction of Jolene Webb. All of the children played the bells with the help of Beckie Hogan, Kay Van Fleet, and Sarah Bass.

The classwork for the children was excellent this year, as were the teachers. Leith Setter, Judy Alvis, and Martha Steger taught our children. Sisters Hogan, Van Fleet, and Setter did the crafts for the children. We indeed thank all of these wonderful people who helped us out. Iowa is a small group, and without help from others, we could not have a reunion like we do.

The adult class was taught by Apostle Donald Burnett, and once again he presented some wonderful material. The afternoon classes were taught by Brother Burnett, Seventy Ray Setter, and Patriarch Gary Argotsinger. We again were taught from on high and felt the Spirit each time we assembled.

Frank Stamm again graciously accepted the responsibility of care and keep of the dining hall. It was his job to make sure the dining hall was ready for each meal. He encouraged the children to work beside him. He showed great patience and kindness in showing the children what needed to be done. Seventy Ted Webb took care of the sound system in the sanctuary. All worked in any way they could to help the reunion be a success. The Spirit was present as each performed their responsibilities.

High Priest David Van Fleet, Brother Setter, Presiding Bishop Kevin Romer, and High Priest Bob Ostrander preached to us with the Holy Spirit present in their words. Brother Argotsinger led the prayer services, and many shared their prayers and their testimonies. Their prayers were certainly accepted by our heavenly Father, and we were told of the many times the Lord has worked in his saints’ lives.

The Lord chose to meet us on this hilltop once again. We were ministered to through teaching, the spoken word, the Holy Spirit moving within the priesthood, the music, the children, and the association of people who were attempting to become one in spirit.

Please come next year and share this with us. Come join us in Iowa.
