Ci lavoravamo da quasi un'ora e mezza, cinque o sei adulti, una quindicina di bambini e io. Il nostro progetto era quello di registrare in video un presepe per una produzione televisiva. Volevo che il segmento durasse circa cinque o sei minuti, ma fedele alla forma, ci voleva dieci volte tanto per registrarlo. Non che i ragazzi si comportassero male; era solo un fattore della tecnologia coinvolta e della "messa in scena" dei gruppi di bambini dai cinque ai dieci anni davvero pronti per la pausa merenda. Oh, e un bellissimo bambino di dieci settimane che aveva avuto abbastanza tempo con la videocamera per una notte.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dato che non stavamo registrando il suono, potevo parlare con i bambini da bordo campo mentre si mettevano a posto. Dicevo cose come "Pastori, avvicinatevi alla mangiatoia" o "Angeli, ricordatevi di sorridere; questo \u00e8 un momento felice\u201d. Ho ricordato ai tre re di guardare il bambino prima di deporre i loro doni e li ho istruiti a inginocchiarsi perch\u00e9 erano saggi e sapevano che questo bambino era Ges\u00f9, il Messia, il Salvatore del mondo. <\/span><\/p>\n

A un certo punto, mentre i bambini aspettavano in fila per ripartire, mi sono ritrovato a dire loro che le persone che quella notte avevano visto il neonato Principe della Pace avevano dovuto aspettare a lungo anche lui. E poi, siccome sono un insegnante, ho continuato dicendo che lo stiamo aspettando di nuovo, ma questa volta non verr\u00e0 come un bambino e tutti si prostreranno davanti a lui. Mi hanno guardato senza dire niente per diversi secondi, poi siamo tornati alla nostra sessione di registrazione.<\/span><\/p>\n

Alla fine l'abbiamo chiamato "fatto" e ho detto ai bambini di togliersi i costumi e di lasciarli sui tavoli prima di andarsene. Un ragazzo, che era stato uno dei re, mi porse la sua veste viola troppo grande e disse: "Eravamo l\u00ec". Ho indicato dietro di lui il nostro set e ho detto: "Vuoi dire laggi\u00f9?" \u201cNo\u201d, ha risposto, \u201cvoglio dire che eravamo davvero l\u00ec. Come se una piccola parte di quelle persone fosse scesa dentro di noi, quindi io ero davvero l\u00ec, come un re, a inchinarmi\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n

Ricordavo quanto fosse stato immobile mentre era inginocchiato davanti alla nostra giovane Mary e al bambino. E in quell'istante, ho capito! Questa non era stata solo una sessione di registrazione video per lui; per alcuni fugaci istanti, il suo Spirito aveva sentito il timore reverenziale di quella Notte Santa. Conosceva nel suo cuore la meraviglia dell'adorazione ai piedi del Maestro!<\/span><\/p>\n

Sorprendente! Pensavo che stessimo registrando solo alcuni adorabili bambini che le famiglie della Chiesa si divertiranno a guardare. Ma Dio lo intendeva per un momento di testimonianza e certezza nella vita di almeno un bambino. E nel mio. Che Dio potente serviamo!<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
