April 2002 was the month and year my family was guided by God and his son, Jesus Christ, to the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was a Deacon in the Community of Christ at the New Walnut Branch at the time where my wife, kids, and I attended church with my mom.

Before I go on, let me give you a little history on how I got to April 2002. It all started in 1986 when I was 14 years old and the RLDS lost its way. When my family stopped going to church together, my mom, my siblings and I stayed with the RLDS church which is now the Community of Christ. For two years my dad wandered around in a daze trying to figure out what had happened to the church he knew. Then he bounced from Restoration group to Restoration group being unsatisfied. Years passed. I grew to become a man and God began to speak to me and guide me by using my parents and grandparents to show me about the power and truth of God and His Son Jesus Christ. There were many trials that I faced. Some were caused by being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and others were by my poor choices, but I knew that God gave His son’s life for me and that gave me hope.

In September of 1997, God gave me a beautiful wife, Melody. Then in June of 1999 God gave us a daughter, Molly and then a son, Madison in October of 2000! In 2001 we were still with the Community of Christ Church and were feeling spiritually empty. We felt we needed to find a different church in which to raise our family. We did not know where to go. We thought about going to a Christian Church and then worried that our kids would not learn about the Book of Mormon, Doctrine of Covenants, or the Inspired Version of the Bible. So we decided we would go to a Restoration Church. However we did not act on our decision until the first Sunday in April 2002. I woke up early that morning and went to church with my family to my Deacon duties for the last time for the Community of Christ Church at the New Walnut Branch. After church was over, my family left in the car to go home. I decided to stay because I still had to give my church key back to the pastor and tell him my family was leaving the Community of Christ Church for good. After I told him, I started my walk home and as I was walking I prayed to God to lead my family to the church He wanted us to go to. He answered me that day. When I got to my house, my dad’s van was sitting in my driveway and my dad was sitting in it with the news that God had sent him to tell me about the church my family should go to. It was the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!!

In 2002, the year we joined the Remnant Church, God gave us another daughter, Emma. Through the years being here at the Remnant Church, the Lord has called me to be a Priest, then an Elder and at the April Conference of 2016 I was set apart as a Seventy. I love the Lord Jesus Christ so much that I want to share his love with all those who are willing to listen. I will do my best to be his humble servant.
