President Elders Quorum

I was born and raised in Independence , Missouri and have spent all of my life in Independence except for the three years I served in the Army.

During my teenage years I worked delivering clothes for A & M cleaners which was owned by my parents. I also worked for the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital.1964 I started working for General Motors and worked there for 42 years before retiring in 2007. I enjoy doing wood projects, working in the yard, helping friends and family on various projects.

I received my draft papers in 1966 and I decided to enlist for three years. I was trained as an operator on the Hawk missile. I spent 19 months in Okinawa and finished my remaining time in the Army at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas in 1969.

The year 1966 was a memorable year. After enlisting in the Army I married my best friend and love of my life on May 14, 1966. Our anniversary is a special day we share but we also share another special day. We were born on the same day, same year and born in the same hospital, The Independence Sanitarium and Hospital. We attended different high schools and met again a couple of days after our 16th birthday. I always told Andrea she was a whiner in the hospital nursery and I needed to wait until she grew up and quit being a whiner. We are happily married after 55 years.

We have been blessed with 3 daughters, Angela born in 1971, Robyn born in 1977 and Cammie born in 1985. We are also blessed with 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. We enjoy our time with all of them.

My parents belonged to the R.L.D.S. Church and I was baptized when I was 8 years old. My mom’s family also belonged to the R.L.D.S. church. I am a third generation of the original church.

I was ordained a Deacon in 1982, ordained a Priest in 1998 and ordained an Elder in 2011. I am currently President of the Elders Quorum. I feel very honored and blessed to serve the Lord and belong to our church.
