Steven C. Tims

I was born in 1955 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. My father, Harold (Bud) Tims, and mother, Jean LaVon (Vonnie), were both converts to the church. Through the ministry of Elder John Gorker and the love of the Bartlesville saints, my parents embraced the restored gospel and became dedicated, life-long members in Christ’s church in the early 1950s. I was born and raised in the church and was baptized in June 1964.

I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1978. I became interested in personal computers and developed estimating software for residential construction, and that experience led to a career in custom homebuilding with my father. In 1986, I gathered to the Center Place with my parents, expressing a firm faith in the call and purpose of Zion. I met the love of my life there, Tina Allen, and was married in 1988. We had two sons, Ben and Dave, who have both been ordained to the priesthood. Tragically, the marriage ended in divorce.

As I have come to know the Lord, I appreciate the depth of His love and the opportunity to serve the Living God. Beginning in 1971, I served in the offices of deacon, elder, and high priest. I served as pastor at Blue Springs for four years, served on the Standing High Council from 2012 to 2020, and was ordained an apostle in 2020. My testimony is that the Lord is zealous in his work of establishing His kingdom here on the earth. Despite the progressive attitude of the world around us, Zion will be when people embrace the desire to serve only the God who created them. The Lord invites all to come, ask, seek, and knock; experiment upon his word. His word is sure!
