March 26, 2020 – From the Presiding Bishopric
Dear Saints,
It is our prayer that each of you are able to stay safe during this unprecedented time of social distancing and isolation. We want to offer assistance to anyone that may be in need of getting groceries or daily supplies.
Keeping in mind our membership’s demographics, it is likely that some of our Center Place congregations may not be able to meet for some time. We are approaching our third week of not being able to meet as congregations and we miss that collective worship and unity terribly. We were designed by our Creator for socialization. In fact at the time of creation, the Lord said, “It is not good for man to be alone” and so a helpmeet was created for our first father Adam.
Given our current situation, would you prayerfully consider helping in the following ways?
1) Would you consider making a phone call to a church friend today? Reach out to someone in your congregation that has been on your mind and let them know that you are thinking about them. See how they are feeling and if they need anything.
2) Would you consider an online donation to the church? Each church building as well as the church Headquarters building has needs that continue during this time even when the buildings are not used. Insurance, mortgage payments, minimal heating and cooling, and maintenance costs continue. Many of us have considered giving our extra offerings when we meet again, but it would really be a blessing to have online donations now to stay in the budget. Our Oblation fund exists for times like these when our saints may have additional financial needs. Please think about giving to the Oblation fund as well as Tithing or making local branch offerings. Additionally, although many of the Church Officers are volunteers, we do have a paid staff at the headquarters. Your online donations are very appreciated to keep the work of the church alive and well.
3) Would you pray for the leadership of the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints? Even though many businesses in the United States have closed during this pandemic, our daily church office and it’s activities have continued. Plans for Conference, The Hastening Times, the church website, general membership needs, Lunch Partners, local and world outreach, the Bishops, and the First Presidency continue to move forward. Whether they are meeting via teleconferencing or other venues, each group is working to keep the structure of the church up and running. Please pray for their safety, discernment, and wisdom.
You make the difference in the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Each member’s actions encourages another. Together we can make a difference in the world around us. We can proclaim the love of God to a hurting world and strive to build Zion so that the Lord can return and bring His people back to Him. We look forward to the hope of the Master who will lead us through this tribulation as in Matthew 14:10 “Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.”
Blessings,
Your Presiding Bishopric
W. Kevin Romer, Jerry A. Sherer & Andrew C.K. Romer.
