ORIGINAL 1830s RESTORATION CHURCH, THE REMNANT CHURCH MOURNS SALE OF KIRTLAND TEMPLE AND NAUVOO SITES

Independence, Mo., March 8, 2024 – Built in the 1830s under spiritual direction and through the sacrifices of many families, the Kirtland Temple in Kirtland, Ohio was completed. Recently, the LDS church and Community of Christ (CoC) announced the sale of these historic sites and artifacts. Grieved by this news, The Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints joyously invites all who wish to learn more about the restored gospel and faith visit website to learn more. We have set up a FAQ and informational page at TheRemnantChurch.com/KirtlandTemple.

It is estimated that nearly 30,000 Jackson County, Mo residents adhere to the Latter-day Saint faith. For many of them, the Kirtland Temple has long been esteemed as the first temple of the restored church.

Additionally, the sites at Nauvoo, Illinois represented the Church’s demonstration of a faith-based community, incorporating features of Joseph Smith’s “Plat of Zion” and served as a location for the bolstering of the restored gospel faith on the banks of the Mississippi River.

The trials, hardships and spiritual enlightenment experienced by the saints in the early days of the Church serve as an example to us today of the task that lies before us and the commitment needed to accomplish God’s plan.  The need for a unified body of saints is more important than ever before.

The Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has been called into renewal to preach the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ to all who will listen and to prepare and gather a righteous people for the building of the Kingdom of God on earth, Zion.
