The First Component of One Endeavor<\/strong><\/p>\n Among the first counsel given through the prophetic office to the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was, \u201cto study to understand the fullness of my gospel \u2026\u201d and \u201cThe kingdom of God awaits your response\u201d <\/strong><\/em>(R-145:7a-b). One component of the One Endeavor program addresses the \u201cFundamentals of the Fullness of the Gospel,\u201d which is addressed in the following article. Here, however, we address the question, \u201cWhat is the Kingdom?\u201d In a reading of the Scriptures, with Revelatory direction to the Remnant Church about the kingdom is helpful:<\/p>\n \u201cI [the Lord] have set in my church those offices of priesthood necessary to bring to pass the building of my earthly kingdom\u201d<\/strong><\/em> (R-147:5a).<\/p>\n \u201c[Y]ou are among those chosen to bring to pass my kingdom in these last days\u201d<\/strong><\/em> (R-151:5b).<\/p>\n \u201c[T]he temporal law\u2026with the spiritual law come together under the celestial law, \u2026 culminating in the attainment of the kingdom of God on earth\u201d<\/strong><\/em> (R-152:4).<\/p>\n There is a kingdom of heaven and a kingdom on earth!<\/p>\n The third chapter of Matthew describes the coming forth of the Lord Jesus, as \u201cthe hour of his ministry drew nigh\u201d<\/strong> <\/em>(Matthew 3:26). John the Baptist, declared, \u201cthe kingdom of heaven is at hand\u201d<\/strong> <\/em>(Matthew 3:28).<\/p>\n This referred to Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God.<\/p>\n Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son, came from the presence of the Father, the realms of glory, to bring the essence of righteousness, the kingdom of heaven to an He taught us to pray, \u201cThy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth<\/span>, as it is done in heaven<\/span>\u201d<\/strong><\/em> (Matthew 6:11; emphasis added).<\/p>\n Jesus taught the gospel of the kingdom, the gospel of salvation, the gospel of peace, etc.<\/p>\n He declared, \u201cExcept a man be born of water, and<\/strong><\/em> the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God\u201d (John 3:5). its many references to statements including the word \u201ckingdom,\u201d there is no one clear definition. One can say that Jesus himself never gave a specific definition of the kingdom. However, if we are to respond to a waiting kingdom, we must define as best we can just \u201cWhat is the Kingdom?\u201d<\/p>\n
