The Gathering Place was acquired in 2002 as a 4-H livestock facility. With dedication from the saints, in time, donations and talents, we were able to convert the buildings into our Conference Center and Worship Center facilities you see today. The grounds are 30 acres with room for expansion beyond the tree line.
The Conference Center serves as the hub for our General Conference and Priesthood and Women's Retreats. There is a multipurpose gymnasium with audience seating for up to 800 with a stage (for services) and recreation equipment (for other times). Along the outside corridor you will find classrooms and shower/laundry facilities as well as sleeping quarters for overnight guests.
The Conference Center has been used in the past to support organizations. In 2012, a fire left homeless pregnant mothers and their babies without a place to stay. While their new home was being built, Mothers Refuge stayed in our retreat facilities and 56 babies were born rather than being aborted during their time with us.
Additionally, the Conference Center serves as a training facility for Emergency Preparedness for Jackson County who hold mock preparedness drills with the American Red Cross.
During the school year, both our preschool Zion's Academy and elementary youth groups Remnant Handmaidens & Remnant Warriors use the Conference Center. Youth Campfires are often enjoyed around the firepit.
The Worship Center is used by Zion's Hill Congregation and has a sanctuary, classrooms and meeting rooms, fellowship hall with full kitchen and nursery. The Center Place annual summer Vacation Church School is also held here.
