“The Fruit of the Spirit”

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering,
gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness,
temperance; against such there is no law”
(Galatians 5:22-23).

Sixty youth from the Remnant and Restoration branches gathered for Vacation Church School (VCS) on July 10th to 13th. This year’s theme was “The Fruit of the Spirit.” Teachers, youth helpers, and staff came together to provide a fun, informational week for our pre-school through junior high aged youth.

Our day started with fun campfire songs and then with morning devotions in the sanctuary with our VCS pastor, Apostle Donald Burnett. The rest of the day was filled with craft time, recreational games, and of course, yummy snacks.

The music class staff taught scriptures that were put to familiar tunes and songs based on the theme. Teachers taught about Daniel, the good Samaritan, Joseph of Egypt, and Joseph Smith in relation to the fruits of the Spirit.

At the end of our day, we gathered to watch a drama produced by Ardyce Nordeen and played by Wyatt Fears, Brendon VerDught, Piper Erickson, and Daisy Hasselman. The skits were based on current youth situations and how the characters applied the fruits of the Spirit. Many thanks to the parents who brought their child(ren) to VCS and to the staff for their dedication and time.
