Remnant Record 2018 Issue 1
To The Saints . . .
This is the inaugural issue of অবশিষ্ট রেকর্ড. অবশিষ্ট রেকর্ড is like a yearbook, or even, perhaps,
a time capsule for the church. It was created as a compilation of the major church activities and spiritual
events that highlight the fellowship and ministry of the saints for each calendar year. In times past, some of
the substance of অবশিষ্ট রেকর্ড was spread across many of the previous editions of The Hastening
Of course, yearbooks are not a new invention. Did you know that the first yearbooks were composed in the
mid-1600s, and were just scrapbooks with keepsakes, notes, articles, pressed flowers and sometimes a lock
of hair to remember the events? It was not until the 1820s, when photographs were invented, that pictures
came on the scene. As early as 1806, Yale University published the first college yearbook. However, it
wasn’t until the 1880s that printed yearbooks started being mass produced, and in the 1930s companies
started selling them to schools, companies, churches, and government institutions.
As the march of time moves forward, may we look back on the times spent with each other and reflect
on what matters most. As Peter said so eloquently, “For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as
the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away; But the word of the Lord
endureth forever…” (1 Peter 1:24–25). So, let us have joy in what the Lord has given us, even the gift of
the present day.
As you reflect, we hope that this will help bring back fond memories of camps and activities during this past
year and the courage to face the challenge of tomorrow.
